StatSheet's Missouri Valley Player of the Week for February 25th goes to Wichita State's Cleanthony Early. Marcus Marshall from Missouri State has earned StatSheet's Missouri Valley Freshman of the Week. Early had huge numbers in rebounding (5.5 per game), shooting (50%), and scoring (18.5 pts per game). The Wichita State junior played well in wins against Indiana State and Detroit.
Early led scoring for the Shockers with 19 points while adding 4 rebounds in a close 66-62 win over Indiana State. In the next game he added 18 points and 7 rebounds in a 94-79 win over Detroit.
This is the first StatSheet Missouri Valley Player of the Week honor for Cleanthony Early. The runner-up this week is Carl Hall, a senior from Wichita State. Honorable mention goes to Evansville senior Colt Ryan. The highest ranking player from Southern Illinois was Jeff Early who finished seventh.
StatSheet Missouri Valley Freshman of the Week: Missouri State's Marcus Marshall
Marcus Marshall averaged 36 minutes as a starter for Missouri State. His averages in both scoring (18.0 pts per game) and free throws (7.0 per game) led all Missouri Valley freshmen. In a 69-63 loss to Northern Iowa, Marshall led the Bears in scoring with 25 points on 53% shooting. Following that in a thin 57-54 win against Eastern Michigan, he added 11 points and 3 steals.
This is the second StatSheet Missouri Valley Freshman of the Week award for Marcus Marshall. Egidijus Mockevicius from Evansville gets runner-up. Honorable mention goes to Matt Bohannon from Northern Iowa. Southern Illinois has yet to win the StatSheet Missouri Valley Player of the Week award this season.
