In Carbondale on February 14th the Salukis were beaten by the Bluejays in Missouri Valley play, 88-69.
Creighton exploited Southern Illinois in shooting and rebounding. The Bluejays were nearly unstoppable from the floor, shooting a big 77% compared to 50% from the Salukis. Creighton came down with many more rebounds, 33 to 16, and that created more scoring opportunities. A frustrating issue for Southern Illinois was the 16 rebounds, which is well below its 32.3 season average.
A couple items of note about these two teams: According to the RPI rankings, Creighton was the much better team, #29 to #232. The Salukis lost to the Bluejays earlier this season 90-71.
